I-MED agreement voted up, backpay coming soon

Health Services Industry

We’ve received notification that on Friday your new enterprise agreement was voted up. The results are that 71% of I-MED staff voted yes and 29% voted no.

Without your earlier actions, we wouldn’t have seen I-MED amend their initial shonky agreement. This result comes after you all stuck together, threatened to take industrial action late last year and resoundingly voted NO on I-MED’s first agreement, which included a new classification structure that many of you had issues with. By voting that agreement down, you forced I-MED to come back to the table to listen to your feedback and provide an improved offer.

Here are some of the wins that were secured in your new EA because of your action:

• Wage increases of 3.5%, 3% and 2.5% back paid from last year
• Improved clause around rest periods after recall to assist with fatigue management
• Equalising standby allowances between the north and south
• Increases to parental leave from 8 weeks for the primary caregiver to 12 weeks
• Increases to sick leave from the Award minimum for the first time
• Changes to the productivity bonus to make it easer
• The creation of a Health and Safety Representative allowance

Please give a massive thanks to Sophie, Lauren, Izni, Jo-anna, Sally and Sharan for their amazing efforts as bargaining reps – they have truly done an excellent job at advocating on behalf of all of you to deliver improved EA conditions.
