HACSU radiographers, sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists will walk off the job on Wednesday 19 June to protest the government’s inaction on implementing a market allowance to address chronic retention and attraction issues.
“What we are seeing at the moment is cancer patients being delayed treatment that they need to get urgently, for obvious reasons, because we don’t have the staff to do the diagnostic tests. This is simply unacceptable in a developed country like Australia that we are delaying care, and it does mean that people die sooner, and people die who don’t need to die, and we’ve had coronial inquests that have shown this. It’s just the government not caring, and this is why these staff are taking this important action tomorrow.” – Robbie Moore, HACSU State Secretary.
