Most of you have been involved in our work around redrafting the statement of duties for support workers in child safety to better encapsulate the complexity of the work that you do.
Thanks for all of your contributions to it, and to your delegates and workplace leaders who’ve given feedback and written it alongside us.
For those of you who aren’t as across it, we’ve been working closely with support workers across the state to rewrite your current statement of duties with the view to get you reclassified as Band 3s. This has been an extensive consultation period with HACSU members like yourself to make sure that we can cover off on all of the weird and wonderful parts of your job and help you get better recognised for it in terms of pay.
The move to Band 2 that we’ve been able to win together recently was one small part of the step in getting there. Now, the draft SOD for Band 3 has been passed up the chain to HR and it’s our understanding that it will go to job design once it’s been reviewed for them to rubber stamp it and allocate a classification level to it.
We’re hopeful that because the SOD has been re-written in a way that better reflects what you actually do, that will be recognised and the job will be classified at Band 3 but there’s still a way to go before we know if that’s the case or not.
We’ll keep you updated on how things go, but in the meantime if you’ve got questions for us or you want to organise a time for us to pop around and have a chat further about this (or anything else) please feel free to get in touch on 1300 880 032 or on [email protected]
