Regis puts proposed agreement to vote

Posted on 23 May 2024 in Aged Care

After months of trying to achieve the best deal possible for you, we have agreed with Regis on a wages package that should make you competitively paid. If the Agreement is voted up, you will be paid a 5% wage increase. A further 3% wage increase will be provided on 1 July 2024.

Regis won’t pay back pay for years that you did not get a negotiated wage increase but will instead make an improved one-off lump sum payment if the Agreement is voted up. The lump sum payment is:

Type of employment

Lump Sum Payment ($) (gross)

Full-time

$2500

Greater than 75% but less than 100%

$2000

Greater than 50% and up to 75%

$1000

Greater than 25% and up to 50%

$ 800

Less than 25%

$500

Casuals who work at least one shift in a fortnight before vote

$500

After years of battling, we managed to save 8-hour shifts (you may agree to extend shift lengths to 10 – but this cannot be forced). Unfortunately, Regis wanted the ability to make night shifts 10 hours, although have indicated they have no plans to make any change to your rosters to accommodate this.

We also managed to save your shift penalty rates which will remain at 15% for afternoon shift and 20% for night shift – your previous strength in voting no has forced Regis to back down.

Despite arguing that our members will not be happy, Regis have included in the proposed Agreement a slashing of overtime rates for the first two hours of overtime – from 200% down to 150% for the first two hours. They have also provided that the paid meal break transition allowance will only continue to be paid for 3 months from the proposed Agreement having operation.

Whilst the Agreement has both good and bad, we have fought hard with your powerful support to retain key conditions as well as achieve a satisfactory pay increase.
