We met with Baptcare again yesterday to continue negotiations for your new agreement.
Disappointingly, their wage offer wasn’t thrilling.
They came in with a 2.5% increase and no backpay to when the last agreement expired. We told management that this is inadequate and our members would vote no if they did not reconsider and offer something more in line with the cost of living and what other aged care employers are paying their workers.
But it’s not all bad news! Baptcare have backed away from the idea of placing restrictions on stat decs and have agreed to change the wording of rostering provisions for part-time employees.
Now, it’s important for everyone to stand together, keep conversations going about your agreement and encourage more workers to join the union – together we can fight for a fairer wage increase that you need and deserve.
We’ll update you once Baptcare get back to us, hopefully with a better wage offer. In the meantime, if you have any questions on bargaining, please reach out to Donna, your workplace delegate or your HACSU organiser. You can always give HACSUassist a buzz on
